MHT Scotland
The Mental Health Tribunal Scotland have appointed a new president,
Dr Joe Morrow.
The service user participation forum, which Havoc are members, are holding their next meeting
in Inverness. Date, time and venue TBC.

Our charity have been contacted by the Public Health
Department from Andalusia Spain, regarding the schools work we undertake, as this is an area that they wished to
develop. The main topics were, does the delivery of accredited lessons by service users have more of an impact
rather than traditional methods? What barriers we had to overcome in achieving this? We offered reasons from the participating
schools and ourselves on the rational behind service users presenting the lessons. Pupils are more attentitive to persons
that have personal experience of mental ill health, are more receptive to questions and most importantly interact,
in what can be a difficult subject. This was an information gathering exercise, to be presented as part of a wider
study for consideration to the commissioning authority, as part of their national program for mental health and well being.
Information surrounding other issues about stigma and recovery was furnished by our colleague's at See Me, SRN
and SDC for mental health.
The Authorities in Andalusia have implemented a program surrounding these topics, more
information can be found at http://www.1decada4.es/ingles
Many thanks to Angel and the team in Andalusia, allowing us to share experiences.

The Lanarkshire recovery network.

The Lanarkshire recovery network was officially launched on
the 8th of June 2008. The network commissioned the filming of a DVD around recovery. This is to be presented by the particepents
and others in the Banquiting Hall, South Lanarkshire HQ, Almada Street, Hamilton, Friday 17th October.
The
DVD is an excellent piece of work, many thanks to all who shared their personal stories of recovery. Once the pressing
of the DVD is completed, we intend to use it in conjunction with our PMA school's work.
With permission
from The Network, we are hoping to upload the DVD, allowing many more people to access the stories and personal journeys,
showing that people can and do recover from mental ill health.
